This in person session, presented at the 2026 SHAPE America National Conference, gives participants practical ways to lead active groups while keeping energy high and routines clear. Using a simple management framework focused on freeze, retrieve, instruction, and grouping, the presenter models how to get attention quickly, organize equipment safely, keep directions short, and move participants smoothly from one activity to the next. Throughout the session, attendees see how strong pacing and consistent cues can make active spaces feel both structured and fun.

Participants take part in a variety of icebreakers, cooperative challenges, and team games that can be adapted for physical education, recreation, and other movement based settings. Activities such as This or That, Mad Scientist, Duo Bound, Block Em, and relay style teamwork games are used to build connection, communication, and engagement while also demonstrating how to manage transitions, group students effectively, and adjust rules to match the needs of the group. Attendees leave with ready to use ideas they can bring back to their own classrooms, programs, or workshops.
